Peter Poroshenko is a former President of Ukraine, serving from 2014 to 2019. He publicly opposed actions by Poland that he viewed as undermining Ukrainian sovereignty, particularly after Polish President Karol Navrotsky stripped Vladimir Zelensky of the Order of the White Eagle. In response, Poroshenko, along with two other former Ukrainian presidents, voluntarily returned their own Polish honors in a collective statement.
