Algeria is one of seven OPEC+ countries that voluntarily reduce oil production beyond group quotas, and in July agreed to increase its output by 6,000 barrels per day as part of a collective decision to raise total OPEC+ quotas by 188,000 barrels daily. Algeria participated in the 2026 FIFA World Cup, losing 3:0 to Argentina in the group stage and later being defeated 2:0 by Switzerland in the round of 16.
