Belgium is currently experiencing its largest recorded forest fire in history, which began on August 14 in the High Fens nature reserve in the Liège province and has spread across 3,000 hectares, nearing the German border. The country is also set to stop recognizing Russian non-biometric passports from October 1, 2026, as part of a broader EU measure affecting Belgium, the Netherlands, Luxembourg, and Sweden.
