Bulgaria is involved in military cooperation with the United States, having approved the temporary deployment of eight U.S. KC-135 refueling aircraft and up to 250 American personnel at the Bezmer air base. The country has also withdrawn from the 'coalition of willing' support for Ukraine, citing a need for diplomatic resolution over prolonged military aid, and blocked the 21st package of EU sanctions targeting Patriarch Kirill and Vagit Alekperov.
