Estonia is ranked first in the 2026 Global Relocation Index by Rumavi, citing quality of life, safety, and healthcare. The country has extended indefinitely the reduced 12-hour operating regime for border checkpoints with Russia, including Narva, Koidula, and Luhamaa, citing security and border control needs. Estonia also plans to ban Russian and Belarusian citizens from purchasing real estate starting January 1, 2027, and continues hosting NATO military activities, including U.S. rotational forces and joint exercises.
