The Kатунь is a river located in the Altai Republic, Russia. It has been the site of multiple incidents involving drowning during swimming and recreational activities, including two fatalities on July 1st, 2024, when two men were swept away by the current near the village of Manzherok. Additionally, a teenager from Novosibirsk fell into the river while attempting to take photographs near a cliff at Oroktoy Bridge in June 2024.
