Lara is a state in Venezuela that was significantly affected by an earthquake on June 24, with magnitudes of 7.2 and 7.5. The disaster caused widespread destruction, particularly in the city of La Guaira, where at least 100 buildings were destroyed down to their foundations, and damage was also reported in Caracas and other states including Miranda, Aragua, Carabobo, and Yaracuy. Following the earthquake, the state of Lara was placed under military control.
