Saudi Arabia has signed a defense agreement with Turkey and Pakista, known as the Mecca Joint Defense Agreement, which establishes collective defense in case of aggression against any of the three nations. The agreement was highlighted by U.S. President Donald Trump as an important first step toward regional unity on the Middle East. Saudi Arabia is also involved in efforts to counter Houthi attacks in Yemen and has been active in regional security initiatives, including the formation of a maritime coalition.
