Spain is facing a significant migration crisis centered on the enclaves of Ceuta and Melilla following a large-scale attempt by migrants to enter from Morocco. The situation has led to protests by migrants demanding asylum, reports of sexual violence, and international criticism, including from Italy, which has threatened to suspend Schengen agreements unless the crisis is resolved. Spain has also been involved in NATO operations, with its F-18 fighter jet shooting down an unidentified drone over Romania in August 21023.
