The МС-21 is a Russian project for a short-to-medium-range passenger aircraft intended to replace domestic aircraft like the Ту-154 and Tu-204. It has been under development since the early 2000s, with its first flight occurring in 2017. The aircraft is currently undergoing certification testing, with expected completion by Q1 2027 and a type certificate by late 2027. It is seen as a potential replacement for Airbus A320 and Boeing 737 models, though this depends on the return of those companies to the Russian market.
