Tren de Aragua is described as a Venezuelan narcocartel involved in drug trafficking, human trafficking, and money laundering. The group has been designated by the U.S. Department of State as a foreign organization of concern. In June 2025, a joint operation between U.S. military forces and Venezuelan authorities resulted in the death of Hector Rastenford Herrera Flores, known as 'Nino Herrera,' who was identified as a leader of the cartel. This operation was announced by U.S. President Donald Trump and confirmed by Venezuelan officials.
