Янис Тимма was a Latvian basketball player who died by suicide in December 2024 in Moscow, following a highly publicized and contentious divorce from Russian singer Anna Sedokova. According to Sedokova's statements in her personal blog, she experienced repeated domestic violence from him, including physical abuse and threats with a knife, and claimed that after his death, investigators told her he could have killed her. His family’s lawyer, Margarita Gavrilova, dismissed these allegations as false and accused Sedokova of attempting to manipulate public opinion.
