Valeriy Kustov, chairman of the board of directors and major shareholder of Russian food conglomerate Group of Companies 'EFKO,' was arrested in Moscow on July 30 amid a criminal investigation into large-scale fraud. He is accused under Article 159, Part 4, of the Russian Criminal Code for theft through deception in an especially large amount, with alleged damages totaling 8.6 billion rubles. According to reports, Kustov controlled his assets through offshore companies registered in Cyprus and the British Virgin Islands.
