Mikhail Matveev is a sitting deputy of the State Duma and a member of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation (KPRF). He was initially removed from the ballot for the State Duma elections by the Samara Regional Court on August 14 following a lawsuit by Anna Sarantseva from the Party of Pensioners over alleged copyright violations involving Microsoft fonts and unauthorized photographs in campaign materials. The Fourth Appellate Court of the General Jurisdiction in Nizhny Novgorod overturned the decision on August 26, restoring Matveev's candidacy, with support from the prosecution.
