Moahsen Rezaei is a high-ranking Iranian military and security official who was appointed Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council of Iran in August 2024, succeeding Mohammad-Bagher Zolghadr. He previously served as commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), a military advisor to Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khomeini, and has made public statements threatening to close the Strait of Hormuz in response to U.S. economic pressure, while also claiming Iran had prepared but canceled plans to strike targets in Ukraine after Kyiv's apology.
