Sergey Smirnov is the head editor of the media outlet 'Mediazona' and was sentenced to one year in prison in absentia for failing to comply with foreign agent labeling requirements. He was convicted under Article 330.1, part 2 of the Russian Criminal Code for violating the obligations of a foreign agent, and was also banned from administering websites for two years.
