Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, the President of Kazakhstan, has been actively engaged in diplomatic relations with Russian President Vladimir Putin, meeting with him at the Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit in Bishkek and the Russia-Kazakhstan forum in Omsк. He has appointed Olzhas Bektenov as Prime Minister and Erulan Karin as Vice-President following constitutional changes that allow him to seek re-election, while also expressing views on social norms and proposing a freeze on the Ukraine conflict during his talks with Putin.
