Gagik Tsarukyan, leader of the opposition party 'Prosperous Armenia', was arrested in July 2024 and faces multiple charges including organized fraud, money laundering, tax evasion, and extortion. He is accused of orchestrating a scheme involving the import of goods and fuel from Iran, and his companies, including the 'Multi Group' conglomerate, have been subject to investigations, asset seizures, and nationalization of key assets such as a cement factory and a brandy distillery. His personal zoo, including lions and a tiger, was also seized by the Armenian Investigative Committee.
