High-speed train cars pass collision tests
Moscow, Sept 7. The first cars of the train for the high-speed railway have passed strength tests – for testing, the bodies of the leading and intermediate cars were used, reported by the Ministry of Transport.
Consensus
- The first train cars for the St. Petersburg–Moscow high-speed rail line underwent collision resistance tests.
- The tests were conducted at the Ural Locomotives factory.
- Head and intermediate car bodies were used in the tests.
- The car bodies were mounted on bogies and loaded to simulate operational mass.
- Sensors including strain gauges and accelerometers were installed to measure metal deformation and impact force.
- A test wagon was gradually accelerated into the assembled train set, increasing impact force in 20-ton increments.
- The goal was to verify that the car body can absorb impact energy without crushing the cab or deforming the passenger compartment.
- The tests are part of the certification process for the new train.
